DETAILS

WE ARE BE PLEASED TO WELCOME YOU TO THE 44th ANNUAL KYSA SLURPEE CUP TOURNAMENT
Victoria Day Long Weekend ~ MAY 18-20, 2024.

Application Deadline:
March 18, 2024

Divisions:
Boys and Girls, U9-U13
Boys and Girls, U14-U18

NOTE RE. U13: Per BC Soccer, in 2023, U13 will be played 9 v 9 and will be played on a smaller field and without scores or standings kept.  For those teams, who play in areas where they play 11v11, we will allow these teams to register in U14 to accommodate their roster size and play the format that they are used to. In this case we would recommend that teams register in a lower level of play to account for the fact that they are playing older teams.

Tiering:

The Slurpee Cup is primarily a Metro/Gold tournament and we accept teams from BC, Alberta, Yukon,  Washington and beyond.  To better help you establish the most appropriate level of play for your team we are simplifying our registration by using tiers 1, 2, and 3. These will take on slightly different meanings depending on the age. Please review your age group carefully to register and place your team correctly.

U9 to U13: We will offer THREE tiers of play in these age groups:

  • Tier 1 (top level development teams)
  • Tier 2 (mid-range development teams)
  • Tier 3 (lower range development teams or top recreational/house teams)

U14 to U18: We will offer THREE tiers of play in these age groups, as follows:

  • Tier 1 (Premier / top level of play in your area.  In BC this is considered the BCSPL, in Alberta this is considered AYSL – teams at this level may be moved up one year if there is not sufficient competition of the same age and level of play)
  • Tier 2 (2nd level of play for teams competing at the Provincial A Cup level. In Vancouver this would be considered Metro for 2008 and older and Division 1 for 2009 and 2010 –  A Cup level of play.  In Alberta this is called Tier 1)
  • Tier 3 (3rd level of play for teams competing at the Provincial B Cup level of play. In Vancouver this would be considered Division 1 for 2008 and older and Division 2 for 2009 and 2010 – in the interior this would be considered a B Cup level of play. In Alberta this is called Tier 2)

Please ensure the placement of your team is accurate at the time of registration. If you are unsure, please email us to assist. The tournament will not be responsible if you register in the wrong age and/or level. We cannot promise that we can move your team later, if you register incorrectly.

Group placements:
Teams will be placed on a first-registered, first-served basis. A team will not be considered entered until full payment has been received. Notification of acceptance will be emailed once registration form and entry fee have been received.

The KYSA prefers 5-team (round-robin) and 8-team (two groups playing round-robin with group cross-overs) loops. Other formats will be used depending upon the number of teams entered in each age group/level of play.

Eligibility:
All teams must be registered with their provincial or state association.

Format:
Teams must be prepared to play early morning games each day (first round of games usually start at 9:00am) or the last round of games (starting at 7:00pm), depending on the format for the division. The format for competition in each age group is at the discretion of the KYSA.

Depending upon the schedule, most teams will play either two games Saturday, one game Sunday and one game Monday OR one game Saturday, two games Sunday and one game Monday. The KYSA attempts to have all games completed on the Monday by 3:00pm, and tries to schedule teams that have the furthest to travel as early as possible on Monday.  In some cases, a team may play one game Saturday, one game Sunday and two on Monday.

KYSA reserves the right to combine or modify divisions. All teams will be scheduled to play four games. Teams will be placed in a group at their level, according to the information that is provided on the application form. Please fill out the on-line registration/roster form accurately.

Awards:
In U14 to U18 divisions. first and second place finishers in each group will receive awards.
